Swansea City v Watford betting tips - Swans' troubles to continue with home draw

Swansea City's plight at the bottom of the Premier League table is becoming increasingly perilous - and little in the way of good news may emerge from their match against Watford.

The decision to promote Alan Curtis to the role of manager for the rest of the season after Garry Monk's sacking could well backfire for even though he is a club legend, the former Swansea and Wales striker is covering new ground in terms of presiding over a relegation battle.

Frankly, we thought the decision was fraught with danger at the time and that a return to the Liberty Stadium for Brendan Rodgers would have made lots of sense, but there are probably reasons we are unaware of why the former Liverpool boss has not gone back (yet).

Anyway, what cannot be denied is that the Swans are on a slippery slope in terms of their league position and the 4-2 defeat at home to relegation rivals Sunderland in midweek was a damaging blow, even though the visitors had plenty of luck in terms of refereeing decisions.

The next visitors to this part of south Wales are Watford and this is most definitely a must-win game for the home team, especially because the Hornets are suffering a dip in form after a fantastic December for which Quique Sanchez Flores and striker Odion Ighalo were named Premier League Manager and Player of the Month respectively.

Although they edged their FA Cup tie 1-0 at home to Newcastle, Watford have collected only a solitary point in their four league games since Christmas, drawing 2-2 at Chelsea, although they only went down narrowly and very late 2-1 at home to both Tottenham and Manchester City.

They were well beaten 2-0 by a previously out-of-sorts Southampton side last Wednesday though, when Ighalo and Troy Deeney in particular looked as though their recent heroics had caught up with them, and Flores admitted it was the team's worst performance of the campaign.

Essentially, both these sides will see this as a game they can win, but on their form of the last few weeks you would certainly not want to put your house on either of them.

Therefore, we will go for a stalemate which would be little help to Swansea who look to face a very difficult task over their remaining 17 games if they are to retain their top-flight status.
