There is such a thing as a free lunch — as long as you're willing to listen while you eat. First-time home buyers and current homeowners are invite d to the first monthly Homeownership Luncheon Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. in Tysons Corner.
Attendees can learn about buying and selling real estate as well as financing and insurance from Naveed Shah, an agent with Keller Williams in McLean; as well as a mortgage lender, an insurance agent and a title company representative.
First-time buyers can get tips on buying a home, improving their credit and qualifying for a mortgage.
Homeowners can learn about refinancing and other ways to save money.

Families are welcome to bring their kids to enjoy family-friendly activities. In addition to lunch, catered by Firehouse Subs of Fairfax, there will be drawings for giveaways, such as a free home appraisal (up to a $500 value), up to $250 off settlement fees for buyers, a free home warranty (up to $500) for buyers and two tickets to a Washington Nationals home game. Every attendee gets a free Starbucks gift card.
