The preparation for any entrance exam requires methodical groundwork, especially when cracking a tough nut like AIPMT, one of India's most coveted undergraduate medical entrance exams. Therefore, it is important to pan-out a revision strategy to thoroughly cover every critical topic and to ace the exam. Here are some quick tips for your last moment preparations and how you can sail through this final fortnight before the exam day:
Master the basics
Tune yourself to NCERT by swiftly revising all the topics. The key to crack an entrance examination is to have clear concepts and to be thorough with the basics. Make sure to go through all the flow charts, graphs and schematic diagrams as they help you in conceptualising a topic more effectively in a relatively shorter period of time. They're also very crucial in scoring bonus marks in examinations.
Manage your clock
Time management is a proven technique that brings success to AIPMT aspirants. Dividing time between different subjects not only ensures overall thoroughness but also gives your brain enough time to soak in everything that you've studied.
Solve mock tests
Last few weeks should be spent practising mock papers and previous years' question papers as they give you a strong idea about the way things will go during the actual exam. This will help you in smartly managing your time during an exam and in self-evaluation.
It will also help you realise your strengths and weaknesses. The key to success is to polish your strengths and side by side work on your weaknesses. Also, notice the reappearing topics in every sample paper and spend more time covering them.
Prepare visual-aids
It is easier to remember something which is visually stimulating. Preparing a ready chart of important reactions, formulae and key concepts will help you in grasping them faster. You will also be able to retain this information much longer. Prepare and place these visual-aids in places where they constantly pop up in front of your eyes.
Mark reappearing questions and topics
As you're constantly practicing previous year question papers and mock papers, mark reappearing questions and topics and specifically devote more time to them to ensure that you completely conceptualise it. One of the most efficient exercises is to recollect the key topics and frame questions of your own. This will provide different perspectives on the topic and will also help in case there is a trick question in the exam.
Avoid studying from new material
Different study materials and authors have different writing styles and a completely unique method to approach a problem. They can greatly vary from each other and can totally baffle you in the last few days of your preparation. Don't use study material that you're not accustomed to as this will mix up your concepts and lead you to a state of utter confusion. Smartly adhere to the NCERT textbooks and the study materials you're habitual of. Go through the summary of every chapter which gives you a quick glimpse of all important points covered in the chapter concisely.

Last week before exams
During the last week, maintain a good temperament and stick to your revision plan. Don't get yourself involved in a hectic and exhaustive schedule as it will bring you fatigue and decrease your efficiency. It is crucial to develop and maintain a problem-solving attitude with a unidirectional focus on NCERT to boost up your confidence.
Resolve your queries only with your mentors and never with a fellow student, as it might lead to unwanted confusion. In addition, it is important to consume healthy and proper food and get at least 8 hours of sleep every day in the run up to the exams.
During exam
Time management is extremely important while giving the exams. Hence, it is important to distribute and devote a specific amount of time to various sections. It is also crucial to keep a track of the time taken to attempt each question.
In the case of MCQs, solve answers directly without looking at the options as the options are devised to confuse students. Do not try to attempt all questions and only go for the one you're confident about at first. This will not only save your precious time but will also spare you from negative marking.
Lastly, it is very important to be calm and focused during the exam. With a combination of practice, persistence, speed and technique, it is not difficult to crack this tough nut.
