Australia v Greece betting tips - Socceroos to complete the double

Australia won the first game of their friendly-match double header against Greece on Saturday, and they should do the double over the Greeks when these two teams meet again in Melbourne on Tuesday.

It took the Socceroos until the 93rd minute to break the deadlock in Sydney at the weekend, Mathew Leckie eventually scoring the only goal of the match to continue his international side's largely strong run of results over the last 18 months.

Since the start of 2015, the Aussies have lost only twice – 2-0 away to Jordan in a World Cup qualifier and then 2-1 to England at the Stadium of Light the week before last when Eric Dier's own goal gave them hope for the last 15 minutes but they were unable to draw level.

Following the match at Sunderland, coach Ange Postecoglou has lost Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak and defender Matthew Spiranovic to injury but he still has 23 players at his disposal to face the Greeks at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, where a crowd of 35,000 is expected.

Among them are four players based in England – skipper Mile Jedinak (Crystal Palace), Bournemouth goalkeeper Adam Federici and defenders Brad Smith (Liverpool) and Bailey Wright (Preston North End) – plus Tom Rogic (Celtic) and Jackson Irvine (Ross County) who play their club football in Scotland.

Also still going strong is former Everton midfielder Tim Cahill, now 36 and still representing his country while based in the Chinese Super League.

The Greeks continue to look nothing like the team that were only a missed penalty away from the World Cup quarter-finals and the longer time goes on, the less the blame can be heaped on Claudio Ranieri for his disastrous spell in charge from the start of the 2014-15 campaign.

It's now only two wins out of 16 for Greece since they returned from Brazil, which is staggering when you look at the quality of some of the members of their squad.

Michael Skibbe, who has coached some of Germany's top clubs, is in charge now and among the players with him down under are Watford's Jose Holebas, his former Roma team-mate Vasilis Torosidis and Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

With Benfica's Kostas Mitroglou not in the squad, scoring goals looks to be a problem for Greece and we are happy to count on Australia beating them again at a very slight shade of odds-on.
