Pearson has had far more time ^[1] than he would have wished to contemplate the circumstances behind his unwanted role in the story of this football season, a victim of the sordid incident that led to him being relieved of his duties as Leicester City manager before their astonishing title challenge under Claudio Ranieri, his successor.

With 12 matches to go, the English Premier League title race is nearing its climax.
